W.H.O. Unwittingly Estimates COVID-19 Fatality Rate is at or Near Seasonal Flu

At an Executive Session of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) COVID-19 Response, Dr. Michael Ryan, WHO’s Head of Emergencies Programme, revealed that around 10% of the entire world’s population has already been infected with COVID-19.

“Our current best estimates tell us that about ten percent of the global population may have been infected by this virus,” said Dr. Ryan.  “This varies depending on country, it varies from urban to rural, it varies between different groups.”

The establishment media then predictably went into hyper-fear alarm mode, touting the 10% infection number as so small that we “have a long way to go” still in the pandemic - which is good for their ratings.  However, what was completely ignored by the establishment media is, given these numbers, the Infection Fatality Rate (IFR) of COVID-19 is now estimated to be around seasonal flu levels.

With an estimated 7.8 billion people in the world, a 10% infection rate comes out to 780 million people.  With “official” worldwide death numbers at 1,061,539 at the time of this report, that makes the fatality rate around 0.14% - right in line with seasonal flu.

Given the “official” death numbers for COVID-19 have been wildly exaggerated in some countries - like the United States - for political reasons, the actual death toll is likely quite lower and the fatality rate significantly lower than seasonal flu.  But, governments worldwide have been enjoying the newfound power and control they’ve gained from the media-generated fear over this virus.

The U.S. CDC corroborated the WHO findings earlier this year.  The  CDC released a Planning Scenarios report in June of this year stating that of all age groups, the current estimated fatality rate of COVID-19 is around that of seasonal flu fatality rates when averaged over the age ranges.
