Approve $6.2 Million School Budget for SAD #20
By: David Deschesne Fort Fairfield Journal, May 30, 2012 FORT FAIRFIELD—A record-setting group of nearly fifty people attended the budget hearing and public vote on the 2012-2013 budget for School Administrative District #20 in Fort Fairfield on May 17. Normally, less than twenty citizens show up for the annual school budget meeting. While all of Fort Fairfield’s voting citizenry was invited to attend, of those in attendance, approximately eighty-five percent were also employees of the school district thus virtually guaranteeing a predictable outcome. All articles of the district’s $6.2 million budget were all passed by nearly unanimous consent of those present with no discussion or questions on any of the articles. Expenditures were approved as follows:
Regular Instruction: $2,55,100 Special Education: $912,521 Career & Technical Education: $0 Other Instruction: $209,757 Student & Staff Support: $288,439 System Administration: $265,444 School Administration: $399,104 Transportation & Buses: $341,237 Debt Service: $0 Additional local funds: $627,448 Total Authorized to Spend: $6,164,394 Adult Education: $18,000
