Three New Queens Crowned in 2013 Mars Hill Pageant

 

Pre-Teen, Junior Miss, Teen Miss Winners

The Pre-Teen/Junior Miss/Teen Miss Mars Hill pageant was held on April 6 at the Mars Hill Community center. A field of 18 contestants competed for the three titles, with winners moving on to compete at the Maine Potato Blossom Festival in Fort Fairfield this summer.

Being crowned Pre-Teen Miss Mars Hill is Janelle Tweedie, a former Little Miss Mars Hill and Little Miss Maine Potato Queen. Janelle is the daughter of Josh and Jennifer Tweedie. She performed a vocal selection entitled Born to Entertain.

1st runner up in the pre-teen division was Elizabeth Hotham, daughter of James and Stacie Hotham. Elizabeth also received the Miss Congeniality award. 2nd runner up was Sarah Mallett, daughter of Jason and Heather Mallet.

Winning the Junior Miss contest was Chloe Wheeler. She is the daughter of Alli and Mitch Wheeler. She performed a vocal selection to Eye of the Tiger. Chloe is also a former Little Miss Mars Hill, and Pre-Teen Miss Mars Hill and has won titles at the Maine Potato Queen pageant.

For Teen Miss Mars Hill, the title went to Elizabeth Gillen. Elizabeth is the daughter of Shawn and Amy Gillen. She performed a lyrical dance routine to Girl on Fire.

First runner-up for Pre-teen Miss was Kailyn Stitham, daughter of Michelle Stitham and Douglas Gardiner.

The pageant was sponsored by the Mars Hill Rotary Club and directed by Angie Burtt and Shelby Hallett.
