MADELYN “TINY” HOLBROOK

Fort Fairfield—Madelyn “Tiny” Holbrook, 59, from Fort Fairfield passed away peacefully at a Bangor healthcare facility surrounded by loved ones on November 2, 2017. She grew up in Lisbon Falls, and was the second eldest child of Jacqueline and Harold Fowler. Tiny volunteered almost any time she could ranging from food pantries, soup kitchens, school fundraisers and events, festivals and fairs, or just giving her neighbors a helping hand. She made it her mission to make everyone laugh and to enjoy nature. Tiny was always the talk of the party either because she was adorning a full mascot outfit or chatting with everyone possible at said party. She loved and was loved by her family, friends, and community as she volunteered at different organizations such as Friends Helping Friends, made crafts for Fall Fun Fest, created the best dang dessert platters at the IGA, and told stories for hours at a time.  Tiny was predeceased by her husband Greg, her brother Alfred “Bub”, and her father.  She is survived by her children Paula [Ryan], Tina, Steve [Alysha], Michael [Donna], Sarah, and Hannah; her brothers Jimmy, Mickey, Frank, and Glen; and her mother Jackie.  She also leaves behind many cousins, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Friends called at a memorial service for Tiny at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post 6187 in Fort Fairfield November 9, 2017 at 12pm.  Hillside IGA in Fort Fairfield closed from Noon - 1pm to allow all of Tiny's fellow-employees to attend the memorial. She instilled in her children a sense of humor and a longing for education that has  helped them in their lives.  Her daughter, Sarah says, “I will continue working hard despite the hardships and heartbreak because that's what she would have wanted. And she would want all of us to remember the good times and her uproarious laugh. She'll leave a hole in our hearts, and it will be hard to smile and laugh for a while, but in her memory, crack a joke and be kind to each other.”
