MERRILL WILLIAM ‘Bud’ GILL

COLUMBUS, Ohio—Merrill W. "Bud" Gill, age 97 of Columbus, passed away January 7, 2019 at Hilliard Assisted Living. Bud was born in Letart, WV to the late Claude and Edith Gill. He proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II. He retired from A & P Stores and Produce Packaging Facilities after nearly 40 years of service. Bud lived in Fort Fairfield, Maine from 1964 until 1978 and worked at the A & P, Great Northern Produce Division located there. He was a "red coat” usher for many years at OSU football games. In recent years, he enjoyed swimming at the Urbancrest YMCA. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Bula; brother Jim Gill; and sister Mary Lee Karnes. Bud is survived by his children Bev Corbett, Bill (Nancy Clark) Gill, Bobbie White, and Barry (Susan) Gill; grandchildren Lisa (Jim) Wade, Greg (Lisa) Corbett, Kenneth (Sarah) Gill, Barney Gill, Nicholas (Kim) Gill, Lauren (Wayne) Pennington, and Alex Gill; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Bud's family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the V.A. Medical Team and the Kindred Hospice Foundation for their attentive care. Family received friends 4-8 PM Thursday January 10th, at the Schoedinger Grove City Chapel 3920 Broadway where the funeral Service was held 1:30 PM Friday, January 11th. Interment followed with Military Honors at Pleasant Cemetery in Mt. Sterling, Ohio.
