MARY JANE “SYLVIA” DONOVAN

Caswell & Fort Fairfield – Mary Jane “Sylvia” Donovan, 91, wife of the late Norman L. Donovan, passed away Thursday morning September 10, 2015 at a Van Buren healthcare facility, following a brief illness. She was born March 19, 1924 in St. Andre, New Brunswick, the daughter of Solomon and Anna (Levesque) Pelletier. She attended school in St. Andrea and in addition to being a dedicated homemaker, worked in an ammunition factory in Montreal, PQ for several years during WWII. Sylvia was married to Norman L. Donovan on May 2, 1946 and will be remembered as a dedicated mother and wonderful grandmother. She had been a resident of Fort Fairfield for the past several years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Donovan was predeceased by her husband Norman on September 4, 2000; three brothers, Aldolph, Ludger and Lionel Pelletier; two sisters, Adelaide Marquis and Arline Godreau. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Robin Donovan of Fort Fairfield; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia A. and Newell T. Martin of Lisbon, NY, Ginny F. and Jimmy Walker of Akron, OH; four brothers and sisters, Raoul and Gemma Pelletier of Toronto, OT, Real and Roselle Pelletier of Barrie, OT, Roland Pelletier of Toronto, ON, Normond Pelletier of Grand Falls, NB; two sisters-in-law, Joanne Cyr of Auburn, Gilda Page of Wakefield, MA; seven grandchildren, Jacob Donovan of Calais, Katy Donovan of Fort Fairfield, Neil Martin, Julie Snyder and her husband Erik all of Ogdensburg, NY, Brian Allen and his fiancé Kaytlyn of Lorain, OH, Pamela Allen and her companion Mike of Hartville, OH, Samuel Pankowien of Akron, OH; seven great grandchildren, Andrew Martin, Matthew and Jennifer Snyder, Trisha Martin, Erika Snyder, Lacie Cook, Chase Pankowien; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday September 14, 2015 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where the funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. with David Donovan officiating. Interment will follow at Peers Cemetery, Caswell. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Donovan to Borderview Nursing and Rehab Center, 208 State Street, Van Buren, Maine 04785.
