GERALD L. BRAYALL

  

Fort Fairfield – Gerald L. Brayall, 86, husband of the late Josephine M. (Reed) Brayall, passed away Tuesday evening, April 21, 2015 at his Fort Fairfield home, following a brief illness. He was born July 20, 1928 in Houlton, the son of Clarence and Pauline (White) Brayall. He was a graduate of the Houlton High School, Class of 1947 and also attended Ricker Classical Institute, Houlton. Gerald served his country from 1950 to 1954 with the United States Navy Seabees, attaining the rank of Petty Officer Second Class. He was married to Josephine M. Reed on July 11, 1953 and had been employed by the U.S. Civil Service at the Loring Air Force Base as a Power Plant Supervisor for a number of years prior to his retirement in the mid 1980’s. With Gerald, his family always came first. He had the ability to fix anything and everything and was always happy to repair whatever needed it for his family and friends. He was also an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and spending time at his camp on Drew’s Lake in Linneus. In addition to his parents, Gerald was predeceased by his wife Josephine on January 3, 2006; two brothers, Philip and Ralph Brayall; one sister, Agnes Davis. He is survived by two sons, Gerald K. Brayall and his wife Joan of Fort Fairfield; Jason Brayall and his wife Nicki of Colorado Springs, CO; three daughters, Lisa Libby and her husband Timothy of Garland, TX, Terry McCafferty of Fort Fairfield, TX, Judith Caldwell and her husband Jeffrey of Auburn; six grandchildren, Jennifer Brayall of Old Orchard Beach, Patrick Brayall of Presque Isle, Aaron Libby of Sumner, SC, Sara Libby Lewis of Las Vegas, NV, Lara Savelson of New Paltz, NY, Nedra Fabito of Encinitas, CA; two sisters, Alfreda Shields and her husband Carl of Connecticut, Ruth Landsak, New Jersey; nine great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. A private service for both Gerald and Josephine will be conducted at a later date, with interment at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield.
