USCC EAST FIRST EVER RACE WITH 800CC CLASS
Fort Fairfield Journal, February 5, 2014
FORT KENT, Maine—The Fort Kent Sno Riders will be hosting the first annual USCC East cross country snowmobile race in Fort Kent. Erik Frigon the owner of USCC East and his crew have known each other for 15 years. They started racing together on the Oval Ice Racing Circuit in Canada about five years ago expanded the USCC East from the main series in the Midwest and have grown it to a seasonal five race series all over the greater New England Area. Dana Thibeault and Michelle Radloff are the event coordinators for the Fort Kent race. Dana has been an avid snowmobile enthusiast for many years and has also been a racer in the tour.
“I have had a lot of fun racing over the years and felt that it was my turn to help others enjoy the same experience.” Said Dana during a recent interview. “One major change to this year’s race versus any other I have been in the opening of the 800cc class of sleds. 800cc sleds comprise the majority of the sleds currently driven by owners and this change will open the door for many more racers to participate.”
The venue will be held on Frenchville road in Zenon Daigle’s fields. The course will be a 4 mile course that will offer ample parking, spectator viewing area, sponsor participation, booths and displays along with a beer garden and food tent.
“We figured that if we were going to pull this event off we needed to do it big and do it right. All local businesses, vendors and sponsors will be a part of this event.” Said Dana. “We will be having prizes not only for the racers but for the spectators with furthest away, largest group and other categories.”
The Fort Kent Sno Riders will be the host of the event and will be sponsored by many local businesses. Pelletier Ford, United Insurance, U.S. Cellular, BeeJays Tavern and Irving Woodlands are a few names that will headline and sponsor the event. During the day of the venue, spectators can expect to see a great race and a greatly supported event.
