The Fort Fairfield town council recently passed a new ordinance regulating the use of consumer fireworks in town.

The ordinance allows for consumer fireworks, with a permit, in town on July 3-4 and Dec. 31—Jan 1.  It also allows for a one-day permit for the use of fireworks on a Friday or Saturday between the hours of 5pm to 10 pm for a special occasion, such as an anniversary, wedding, birthday, etc.   The permit application will be reviewed by the Police Chief, who also is in charge of issuing said permits. Permits will not have a fee associated with them at this time.

Fireworks will not be allowed within 150 feet of any building or structure, or on days with a fire danger over 3.  Fireworks can only be used on that person’s property who has consented in writing.
