PRESQUE ISLE—WAGM TV8 has received a mention in a national documentary produced by bcmin.us now showing on YouTube.  The two hour documentary, entitled Hell-i-vision shows the effects of television in the realm of brainwashing and how the flicker rates and rapid succession of scenes in many television programs today induce a form of hypnotism in viewers and cause Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children who were exposed to large amounts of television watching as toddlers.

The segment featuring former WAGM TV8 newscaster, Dick Palm begins at 54 minutes into the video. The theme of the segment is the wholesale scripting of television news and how the same script appears on dozens of local television stations across the country with the verbiage rarely varying from station to station.  First there are a series of clips demonstrating the phrase on self-gifting during Christmas where the announcers at all stations appear to be reading from the same script.

WAGM’s Dick Palm is featured in the section on Easter about two thirds of the way through the segment, at 54:39 into the documentary where he repeats the same script from dozens of other local stations, “Economic factors may take some spring out of the Easter Bunny’s step this year.”
