Fort Fairfield Journal, March 19, 2014

   The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency announces the arrests of five men for Class B Trafficking in Synthetic Hallucinogens and a sixth man for Class B Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Oxycodone). During the coordinated investigation, agents were able to infiltrate the group and make a number of purchases of bath salts. Agents also purchased Oxycodone from one of the men (Rosten). Seized were over 12 pounds of the bath salts and about $40,000 in cash.

Arrested were;

Keith Cochran 38, Mars Hill, Maine

Karter Burtt 24, Mars Hill, Maine

Brandon Mills 24, Mars Hill, Maine

Doil Hayes 33, Fort Fairfield, Maine

Ryan Brewer 21, Blaine, Maine

Eric Rosten 50, Presque Isle, Maine

   For the past month agents from MDEA’s Aroostook District Task Force conducted an investigation into the illegal distribution of Synthetic Cathinones, more commonly known as “Bath Salts”, throughout central Aroostook County. Assisting in the investigation and arrests were representatives from the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department, Fort Fairfield Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations.

The arrests were made Thursday by drug agents and officers from the assisting agencies at various locations in Aroostook County. The six men were transported to the Aroostook County Jail where bail was set at $10,000 cash each.

The investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected. Specific locations concerning the arrests and drug purchases in this case are not being released at this time.
